Irving Wool Flannel Shirt in Midnight

The Irving is our interpretation of the classic U.S. Navy CPO shirt, a style originally worn by Chief Petty Officers and traditionally made from wool. We refined the silhouette but kept its straightforward military character, right down to the anchor buttons.

What we like most about the Irving is that there are a couple of ways to wear it. Button it up and wear it on its own like a traditional shirt, or treat it more like a lightweight overshirt, layered over a T-shirt with a few buttons undone. Either way, the lightweight wool makes it an easy layer without the bulk of a jacket.

The fabric itself is something special. We use a remarkably soft wool flannel from Fox Brothers & Co.®, the legendary English mill better known for producing some of the world’s finest suiting fabrics. Using Fox Brothers flannel for a shirt is admittedly a little indulgent, but that’s part of what makes the Irving what it is.
