Famous for its warmth and durability, Donegal fabric is the generic term for a ground fabric “flecked” with brightly colored yarns. These “speckled” fabrics were originally woven in County Donegal in Northwest Ireland and typically used in garments designed to protect against harsh Irish weather. Think tweed suits and heavy wool fisherman sweaters.
We love the texture and dimension of a Donegal fabric, but wanted it in a softer, more refined yarn. We turned to our mill partners in Italy and made the Winslow with the softest, most beautiful yarn we could find. Next, we designed a shawl cardigan body with signature patch pockets, horn buttons and more. It’s a classic menswear piece with all the texture of Donegal, minus the itch.
